Hi,

Complete Newbie on Ubuntu, was able to create a liveCD and run Ubuntu on my computer. Want to install it the 64bit version on an my AMD 64 computer but when i go to install it, it doesn't give any option to rescale the partition other than the entire hard drive or my 500Gb external? If I select my internal HD option will it reformat my Windows XP partition?

I would use the Gparted Partition Manager (on the live cd), to resize one of your existing partitions to create space for ubuntu. Then start the installation process.

Load the live cd. In the main menu you can find GParted and the Terminal.
