no more sound after system restore

Hi,

My problem: I've upgraded kubuntu from gutsy to hardy - but there where far too many problems. So I decided to step back by restoring my old system. Now - after all this pain - I've got my old gutsy back and I'm happy. The only thing I miss is sound - there is no. When I'm in info center and click at sound it tells me that there's no information about the soundcard available. What's wrong?

so, i finally landed hardy. with sound and usb and everything. i think something went wrong the first time - maybe becaus I had only security updates enabled ...
