Hey guys,

Got a bit of a strange problem. Apologies in advance if it's already been posted.

I've decided to change from Windows Server 2003 to Ubuntu. I downloaded the ISO from a local server, burnt it and booted from it.

Everything is fine until the GUI loads and I get some seriously nasty graphical artefacts. Like a constant white zigzag across the screen, along with a bit of snow and ghosting.

The desktop is sort of visible behind the artefacts, and you're able to move the mouse, and load apps. I've tried multiple monitors and different isos and its the same issue.

I've never had problems with any Windows (XP/Server).

Using Asus P5VD2-VM (http://www.asus.co.nz/products.aspx?modelmenu=2&model=1417&l1=3&l2=11&l3=369&l4=0) with integrated graphics.

Can anyone give me a hand?

Edit: Just found the "safe graphics" mode, which works - how can I stop it from causing problems in future on a normal boot?

Are you trying to install from the ALTERNATE (text based) server version of Ubuntu ?
