I've been running a dual boot on a Sharp Actius MM20 for years. Since this is an old machine, I bought a 2nd one on ebay for cheap. Well, you get what you pay for. It's in great shape but no way no how will it recognize the USB CD reader (any kind) until Windoz is up and running. So I can't boot Ubuntu.
(Yes, though it's not what I want, I tried Wubi but there is a problem
with the version of Ubuntu on that distribution that hangs the Actius.)

After much experimentation, I have to conclude that something is wrong with the hardware. In fact, if I start out with the USB CD reader, it just stops the boot. If I plug it in at various times, it either stops the boot or is ignored.

So I was thinking - is there a way to connect one laptop to another using
the eithernet cable and boot using the LAN option on the bios? Thanks, Charles
