I just bought an HP printer/scanner, I had to download the HP driver from <http://hplip.sourceforge.net/> to get the HW supported. The printer and scanner work (very well in fact), but HP has decided to add a "status button" in the upper left hand corner of my desktop. I like the printer/scanner, but would like to get rid of the status button. Google + forums didn't have any obvious answers.

What sort of "button"? Is it at the notification area? A screenshot would be nice!
Btw, did you try exitting/disabling it?

Check in System, Preferences, Sessions for something saying Hp Tray and just take out the check if you find it. Hope it helps!

Thanks - System->Preferences->Sessions->HP Tray did the trick.
