What colors do you use for a terminal?

The title is pretty explanatory. Most of use use terminals in and outside of Ubuntu. I'm curious if there's an ideal combination of colors that works best. I bring this up because I use an orange on black setup in MATLAB, and it drives other people nuts.

I have a feeling the best combo really is something as simple as white on black or vice versa, but I'd really like to ask the community anyhow.:D

I have a pretty plain gray on black. Full white is hard on the eyes.

Please share how you can change the prompt colour, also can you change the colour of the cursor.

No matter how hard you try, the white background on anything is more like a white light bulb than a white piece of paper. :) I use green/blue/white on black.
