Capture portion of video to another file

I have an AVI file that is very long. I want to save a section of that file to another file. For example from minute 45:00 in to minute 47:00. How would I go about doing that?

You can do this with Avidemux. It is in the repos.
After you load the film you can set begin and end of the track you want to cut out (A and B) and save it separate file.
