I'm laying some ground work for a graphical download manager for linux. It will be based on Python/PyGTK/libGlade and will look and feel like deluge (the popular bittorrent client). Feature wise, I will try to match it with DAP (http://www.speedbit.com) one-to-one but GPL-ed.

I'm looking for suggestion to name this application, something along the lines of deluge, exaile, banshee - preferrably a single letter word that is catchy & stands out.

Please pour in your ideas. Thank you very much.

thats cool :)

to choose a name first we need to know if it

will be multiplatform or linux only?

also remember to add features slowly, stability matters more than anything in download managers.

i did stop using deluge because it was buggy and crashed from time to time. I haven't bothered to test newer versions. But i would had not replaced it if my first experiences had been better.

as for the DL manager the best for me is Aria, except is ugly gtk1. But is butt easy to use, stable, low memory and works well.

something like transmission + Aria = cool :)

and remember to get the flashgot ff plugin guys to support it.

Linux only at the moment. There are many out there for the 'others'. But since it is based on python & pygtk it should be fairly easy to port it to other plaform.

And yes, firefox integration will be via flashgot.

I'm thinking about something you can associate with loading cargo, digging etc. Examples:

Tractor
Hercules (from the cargo aircraft)
Pelican (sweep up a lot of fish at the same time - yeah, I know it's weak)
Bitdozer (pun on bulldozer)

You can surely come up with more.

Penny: [looking at the big bush] I'd feel better if I just knew what it was called.
Hammy the Squirrel: Lets call it Steve!
Verne: Steve?
Hammy the Squirrel: It's a pretty name!
