hi, I just got a new pc and wanted to dual boot vista and Ubuntu. I found a guide and downloaded the CD .iso but it wouldn't load the installer, then I saw some where that I needed the alternate installer for a RAID setup. so I got that, but when I get to the partitioning part the only options are the two drives individually. I found this site and saw somewhere that it isn't possible to install Ubuntu on a RAID array, is this true?

if so is it possible to put it on a external drive? it's a simple HD case that makes it into a usb external drive.

system specs if you need them are:
- HP Pavilion Elite m9300t PC with TV/PVR
- Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 1 (64-bit)
- Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Quad processor Q6700 (2.66GHz)
- 4GB DDR2-800MHz dual channel SDRAM (4x1024)
- 256MB NVIDIA GeForce 9300, DVI-I, VGA adapter,HDMI
- No Modem
- 640GB RAID 0 (2 x 320GB SATA HDDs)
(I just love copy and past, wish my pencil had that feature)

You can install in Raid. Look for HowToFakeRaid in Google
