InfraRecorder is free opensource, I like its simplicity :)

In my olden days search for an XP based CD burner, I found CDBurnerXP (http://cdburnerxp.se/). It was cool, and got the job done.

To my understanding, though, it doesn't work [well] with Vista.

Exact Audio Copy is the gold standard for rippers.

ImgBurn is also an excellent full-feature freeware app

I hate infrarecorder, for not burning a DVD+RW properly a while ago - after trying numerous times. Settled for some semi-old nero CD which ... worked perfectly fine. Still, hate the fact that the latest versions come with quite a load of crapware; video editor, animation editor, photo editor, bla bla bla.

Apparently, imgburn has a fairly good reputation. Haven't tried it myself. Seems nice.

Personally, I had nothing but bad luck with InfraRecorder. In my experience if you want to create small Frisbee's or coasters then its the thing to use.
