external hard, dual boot, windows, ubuntu

i bought seagate FreeAgent GO 250GB yesterday.
i want dual boot. windows xp sp3 n ubuntu desktop ver
i useing laptop. n able usb boot.
help...

What exactly do you want to do?

Do you want to :
1. Install Ubuntu on External Drive and keep windows on your HDD and dual boot?
or
2. the reverse?

Install Ubuntu n windows xp on External Drive and keep windows on my HDD.

I assume, Windows is preinstalled on your HDD.

Now that you want to install Ubuntu on your external drive, please follow the installation guide (are you familiar with installing linux, with all paritions?)
