OK so I just installed Ubuntu 8.04, and I've been getting all the settings to the way I like them. But I have one issue. my grub boot screen is really boring to me, its just text. no cool pic or image just black and white. I used to have open suse and that had a cool grub. anyway if anyone could give me help on how I can make grub look cool that would be awsome.

Search synaptic for 'qgrubeditor".

It makes things really easy. It lets you change or modify anything you'd like to about grub.

You can make the screen flash, change colors and even create grub splash images from your own pictures. It's a pretty nice little tool to have.

Well, that worked well, but when i tried to create a splash image, it would crash instantly. is there any other software?

See the "Customizing your grub menu" section here ...

I've tried it with 7.10. It worked but it also highlighted EVERY line item
