So I can't seem to get my box to recognize my monitors recommended resolution. When I check the /var/log/Xorg.0.log file I see the following.

(II) Setting vga for screen 0.

So I went ahead and found a modeline for a 1680*1050 monitor, but that didn't seem to change anything (I appended my monitor and screen settings as shown below).

Section "Monitor"
Identifier "Configured Monitor"
ModeLine "1680x1050@60" 147.14 1680 1784 1968 2256 1050 1051 1054 1087 -HSync +Vsync
EndSection

Section "Screen"
Identifier "Default Screen"
Monitor "Configured Monitor"
Device "Configured Video Device"
Defaultdepth 24
Option "AddARGBGLXVisuals" "True"
SubSection "Display"
Viewport 0 0
Depth 24
Modes "1680x1050"
EndSubSection
EndSection

But once X starts it still defaults back to 1600x1200, does my quadro not support this monitors resolution? I am using Nvidias binary driver. Any help is most appreciated.

Oddly enough xrandr seems to think my monitor can't display that resolution (although that doesn't stop my monitor from complaining about it anytime I turn it on).
