having problems puting win xp on second hard drive

hi, I'm pretty new to Ubuntu but I know my way around fairly well. my problem is that I need to put win xp on my second hard drive (currently has nothing on it no partitions and is formated with NTFS) so I can run acdsee and a few other photo programs that I need. but when I run the xp disk (I tryed vista to and got a simalar error) it tells me I have no hard drives in my computer :( FYI: I have always had the hard drive in my comp because its a laptop

This is just a guess, but did you try to replace AHCI with other solution in Bios?

Do you have 2 HDD in a laptop? They must be partitions of the same HDD.
