Hi, my CD drive is acting strange and doesn't let me burn CDs. I can still read them however.

I was planning on reinstalling Ubuntu, but I would need to burn an image to a disk. Since my DVD drive works fine, would it be possible to burn a required iso to a DVD which can be used to install Ubuntu?

This is the site which I'm planning to download the DVD iso from. It's for an x86 processor by the way.

So, is this possible or will I need to get a friend to burn a CD image instead? :(

Yes, you can use a dvd. Downloading the cd image and burning it to a dvd also works.

Thanks for the quick reply. I guess I'll install it tomorrow. :)

Edit: Also, what is the difference between burning the CD image to a DVD and burning the DVD image to the DVD?

If they both work, is it necessary to download the DVD iso? Because I think I've got a CD one lying around here somewhere.
