View Full Version : [ubuntu] Xbox 360 bridge / 802.11n?

I have both my x360 and my ubuntu box in my basement, literally 4 feet from each other. i have them connected through ushare and it works great.

the only problem i have is my 802.11g router is 2 floors up and every movie i try and stream takes forever to buffer or just simply wont stream. it must go from my comp -> router -> x360.

is there anyway i can let ubuntu share files directly to the 360 without going through the router?

if not, i am in the market for a new router... will simply using a wireless N router solve my problems?

Why not run a Cat5 crossover cable from your PC to your xbox, if they're in the same room?

they are literally 5 feet away from each other. how would i configure ubuntu and the 360 to do this. my wireless adapter on the 360 works fine for gaming, just streaming is a little slow. would this take place of my wireless adapter?

and does it have to be a crossover cable, or can it be just a regular cat5 cable?

i just bought a new dlink wireless N router. it streams much better now, but not perfect.

i feel so defeated .... it seems wrong to have this data flying every which way around my house when the two systems are side by side.

i guess it will have to do for now though
