The tether feature is what i would like to use the most in linux.

(1) Evolution and/or Thunderbird w/Lightning sync
(2) Tethering

Or, heck, at least a decent driver.

yes agreed... I want to at least link my blackberry to my computer so it will charge at least..

You can do that already. You need bcharge from the barry project:

yes, all you need is bcharge from the barry project. i was talking about using the blackberry as a broadband modem like you can in windows. it is impossible to install the vzaccess software in wine.

Have you contacted RIM (Research in Motion) (http://www.rim.com/) with your ideas? Maybe they are working on these solutions right now.
