View Full Version : [ubuntu] Post-Instalation Trouble

I have a laptop that I want to make the complete switch to ubuntu, no live cd or partitions.

I ran the installation, and it went much smoother than i anticipated! however once the installation was done it prompted me to setup the time, ect and after doing this, the system just sat on a blank screen with only the default desktop background. no icons, menus, or anything? I tried restarting and I found the same result. The laptop is a gateway if that makes any difference.

Anyone got any ideas on why the system is doing this?

Thanks in advance for the help, I'm new to both these forums and ubuntu but hope to become a part of the community and pass on the knowledge I learn here. :)

did you try to boot ubuntu in the live sessions first?
if yes then did it work perfectly that time or not???

I just ran the CD and installed it, nothing else.

As a side note windows was messed up and stuck in a loop before this, which is part of why I'm switching over to ubuntu.

i suggest you try out the live cd and see if it runs perfectly or not
