A goad is a stick with a pointed or electrically charged end, for driving cattle. Are they saying we're a bunch of cattle herders?

I just read the releases page (http://www.ubuntu.com/products/whatisubuntu/releases) and said to myself (or rather, I meant to say to myself) "goader? is that a word?"

I googled for it and the first hit is this thread. I can't figure out what word it was supposed to be, but it's only one letter away from "gooder". :)
