Why do you need one? Just wondering? I'll look into it though, but I can't promise anything.

There are extra terminals if you hit

Ctrl+Alt+F1

you can use F1-F12, though I think not all are filled. And good luck getting back to the installer, you can get back to it I just dont know what F## its at.

DANGET! I just learned that. I didn't know that worked in an installer too. F1-5 are command line, and 6 is gui from my experiences.

I think ctrl+alt+f7 brings one back to the the GUI mode (not sure though - never tried it). Try it and post back if works.

You were right. F6 is command line. F7 is GUI

F8 is apparently the loading status of stuff

If we press ctrl+alt+f1 during the boot process (when the boot splash is up), then we are put into the console where we are shown the boot messages.
Now a little question regarding this :
If I press ctrl+alt+f7 now I am not put back to the bootsplash but I remain in the console. Can we switch back to the bootsplash in this situation? If so how?
Many thanks:)

No idea. Never tried it. There is a glitch when going to terminal sometimes when you use F1. It either won't go from gui, or won't go directly to gui. Other than that, no idea.

You could try entering "startx" in the terminal to start an x session if that's all you need. Not sure if you can get back to the actual splash screen though.

That seams like a DUH moment.

edit: If it's already running, it will tell you so. Trust me...

The poster asked when installing in test mode how do you bring up a terminal, the answer is Ctrl-Alt-F2, when you are in the terminal hit enter for the prompt. Your new installation is being installed on /target.
