Hello

I have just installed Ubuntu on another drive and everything is fine.
However I am using Thunderbird on both sides and from the Winxp side I did a backup of the Email folders using MozBackup-1.4.8-EN.
I was hoping that once I did a backup from the Windows side I could Import the backup from the Ubuntu 804 OS.

It didn't work!

My MAIN Profile or Archive name in Thunderbird Winxp was Bellsouth.

Has any one just moved the files from one location to the other using terminal or just copy/paste from the file browser?

Are there any suggestions or setup precautions you would recommend?

Source Winxp:
/media/WIN_XP/Documents and Settings/KJ/Application Data/Thunderbird/Profiles/d9er6ghs.default/Mail/Local Folders/Outlook Mail.sbd/Bellsouth.sbd

Possible - target Ubuntu:
/home/kevin/.mozilla-thunderbird/fvm4nr8v.default/Mail/Local Folders

Thank you all for your time adn help!

If the windows partitions get mounted it might be possible to share them, I've never had to do it so can't vouch for it working but I found these

I would say though that if you do that you must make sure that windows shutsdown properly or you might get problems when buntu boots.

NO NO!
I don't want to share them!
I just want to move/copy my Email folders FROM Winxp Thunderbird TO Ubuntu Thunderbird?

On the WinXP side all there was, was Outlook Office 2007 Email. I only installed Winxp version of Thunerbird thinking the conversion would be easier. When I did install Thunderbird in Windows Thunderbird it did pick up my Email information.

I now would like to MOVE or COPY the Email folders from Winxp (Office 2007 or Thunderbird) to Thunderbird version that is now installed in Ubuntu 208?

Hey if it helps I have taken a look at Evolution and it looks really good also! Would importing/coping/moving those files into Evolution be any easier?

Thanks for your help!

Lots of helpful links from this HowTo to many related Thunderbird and Firefox topics. Everyone/anyone with this task should spend some quality time reading these articles (and bookmark them for future reference). :)

Got it Worked!

That link did it just fine! YAAA!

I also went with Evolution and not Thunderbird.
The opening screen on Evolution and some of it's layout features reminded me of Outlook.

Down side to that was I found a pole in here where Thunderbird was beating Evolution as the Email of choice!

We will see....

Thank you one and all for your help on this one!
