View Full Version : [ubuntu] .gvfs Hard Drive Full error

July 29th, 2008, 03:54 AM

I'm getting a hard drive full error when I try to download stuff (Right-click --> Save target as). IIRC Firefox told me that it was a .gvfs error, it had fillt my hd. I can't even run mysql (Amarok) as it says that there is not enough free disc space to operate with.

df gives:

frustratedUser@FixMe:~/.gvfs$ df

/dev/scd0 4512062 4512062 0 100% /media/cdrom0

du doesn't show anything noteworthy except a large amount of directories which I can't sudo-read as permission is denied. Including:

du: cannot access `home/frustratedUser/.gvfs': Permission denied

Can someone advise please?

It seems that you have a disk in your CD/DVD drive and it's mounted by gvfs. What happens if you remove the disk and try again to save something?

That wasn't it, but thanks for the response.

I think I'll reinstall to clear up the problem. I've had mad problems with Skype (volume) as well which I haven't been able to solve despite all the threads.

Perhaps I'll go back to Feisty, it was solid as a rock. Hardy needs, I think, a lot more work to bring it up to par.
