Tomcat 5.5 intallation

Hi folks,

I need to install tomcat5.5 in my pc

i (Download)got the tom...tar.gz from tomcat.apache.org

I cant able to move the file to /usr/local

How can i move or copy the file from my desktop

and what are the basic steps i want to configure the tomcat with java?

please reply imm............

Have you tried the one in the ubuntu repo?

If the file you want to move is on the desktop you can do

sudo mv /home/username/Desktop/filename /usr/localChange "username" to your username and change "filename" to whatever the file is called.
