View Full Version : [ubuntu] Cross-Device Linking

So I was messing with my computer in order to try and get my 500 GB SATA to be the boot drive. 2 GRUB Stage 1.5 Error 2 messages later, I went back to my tried and true 15 GB EIDE HDD. Thing is though, the old girl(which I found by a dumpster in a Compaq) lacks storage capacity. So I wanted to link /home/Music to /media/disk/Music. Ubuntu says that kind of cross-device linking is a no-go.

Ideas for a workaround? I'd like to avoid fighting with the hardware and a new install again so soon.

Is there anyway I cold make some path that directs there?

That I think of it, maybe I could change the mountpoint. I've ever tried that before, so i don't know if it will work that way.

I'm not near my computer, so if anyone could do me the favor of telling me if a device can be mounted to say, /home/usernamex/Music/disk?
