yes it is. I believe this already hit reddit and they appear to have come to the consensus that it was standard maintenance or something.

Just went there before logging onto the forums and couldn't connect....

not that we condone or support illegal stuff, of course!

I really don't know what all the fuss about pirate bay.
Yeah the ideology and all the attitude is great, love reading their emails.
But damn , it's a horrible torrent site.
If I search for something and it couldn't find it, it still give me an endless list of irrelevant torrents.
There are much better torrent sites then the pirate bay.

+1: My experience of "Pirate Bay" sites is that one needs be careful: not only for possible legal hassles, but malware that gets included in files you can access.

Pirate Bay hosts Linux Distributions and other free software too.

Wow, here I was thinking this thread was going to be long-winded discussion about copyright infringement and intellectual property, when all the OP wanted to know was "Is it down for anyone else? I need my torrents!" :lolflag:

One such URL I know (to a site I've known to host dodgy stuff) is still down, another with a similar name (but which I haven't looked at) is up and running

I use pirate bay to get hold of a tv show I may have missed. Not sure how illegal it is, but it sure can be handy.

The ip responds to ping, just no action on port 80. Sounds like some sort of maintenance to me.
