Hi
I need some help to upgrade my system from you guys. I am in the process of installing Optiarc AD-7173A DVD RW and I am not sure whether there is driver support available to operate Hardy, when I visited the manufacturers site there was no mention about Linux OS.
If any one with more information regarding this please let me know what are the things I should look for when I choose the DVD drive. I haven't bought this yet but the other specs are as follows:
Biostar MCP6-M2 motherboard,AMD Athlon 64LE-1620 2.4GHz CPU,Hitachi 160GB SATA HDD, 450W WinPower PSU, 2x1GB DDR2 PC-2 RAM.
Your advice and views very much appreciated.
Thank you.

More important than the brand is how you have it connected. 2nd Master seems to be best.

Hi Pumalite,
I don't get what you mean by 2nd master connection, I will connect the HDD with SATA cable to mobo, connect the DVD RW with IDE cable to mobo. If I am wrong please let me know. Thank you for the quick response.

If your drive is IDE; you should see it's position in BIOS
