ubuntu is freezing when i boot off the livecd in tryout mode, or when i do the install option on the livecd. the normal ubuntu logo appears with the orange loading bar, then the orange bar stops when it has almost reached the third bar. the disc usage led stops and my laptop is frozen.

i have also tried installing off the alternate install disc, and the install has gone fine, but when i boot off the freshly installed os, it freezes again.

the laptop im installing this on:
presario cq50 110us

amd turon x64 @2ghz
3 gig ram
nvidia 8100m gpu

also i booted text only recovery mode only to get this error:
Kernel Panic - not syncing: Aiee, killing interrupt handler!

when it freezes the caps, num, and scroll lock keys start blinking

its running gutsy

i just finished the memory test built into the bios--PASS, and am running the ubuntu one now

thanks
