Hi. You can uninstall Mplayer and install Totem or VLC:

sudo aptitude purge mozilla-mplayer && sudo aptitude install totem-mozilla
Or:

sudo aptitude purge mozilla-mplayer && sudo aptitude install mozilla-plugin-vlc

OPen Firefox preferences, select the applications tab - now select which apps for each filetype
