Switching distro's; keep partition?

Hey guys. I'm trying out various distros and I'm curious. Is there anyway to switch to another distro like Linux Mint from Ubuntu, keeping the partition?? My hard drive is already a dual-boot with Vista/Ubuntu and I'm wondering if I can just wipe the Ubuntu partition and install Mint on it, and vice versa.

Install Mint; go Manual and use the old Ubuntu partitions. You can ignore /swap.
