I could not understand why every PC should have one mouse. I think every PC should be attached more than one mouse, and could be use them at once.

If I have PC that has 2 hand mouses, and 2 foot mouses, I could solve Mines game 4 times faster.
And when I both hands are busy on internet chatting. I could use foot mouses to do other things at once.
When I'm boring I could web surfing by hands, and drawing on GIMP by feet. That's foot arts! And share the foot arts together on Ubuntu forum, that'll be so fantastic.

How do you think about it?

This exact thing (called The Multi-Pointer X Server or MPX for short) has been a big recent development in the Xorg community.

They're working on it: http://blogs.gnome.org/carlosg/2008/07/21/post-guadec-hack/

Though the special feet cursors are probably not planned yet ^^;

Can you really handle more than 2 mice?...

Edit: Maybe if you're a drummer, I guess.

wonderful idea!!

please add it in http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com :)

unfortunately, the application AND the operating system would have to support dual/multiple mice support

microsoft has a program called multipoint:

http://cpnmouse.sourceforge.net/

for ubuntu, i think you have to write udev rules for it:

this would be impressive on a touch screen

does it work that way, or would an entire touchscreen be considered one pointer?

As of May 27 2008, MPX is part of the standard X.org X Window System implementation.

does that mean it will be in intrepid?!

This has been available for a little bit now. Its there, but not completely refined at this point in time

Here's a video by Jeff Han, who does a proprietary Multi-touch interface. Quite possibly the best one out there today IMO:

No. :( It will be in X.Org 7.5. That may be several Ubuntu releases away.

That looks interesting, though I imagine using two mice at once would be difficult to get used to - not to mention how much it would slow your 'typing start' time, usually I have one hand above the keyboard and one above the mouse - but not when that is ready...

To pull off this trick requires very large changes in Xorg. I hope its ready to go within a year.
