how can I view ubuntu partition under vista?

I installed ubuntu dual booted with vista. Surprisingly I can access vista partition under ubuntu out of box. I set up samba server so that other machine can access the ubuntu files when Ubuntu OS is up. But how can I view ubuntu partition files under vista when ubuntu OS is down? I don't really need write permission, readable is sufficient enough.
