Your favourite Asian films?

Trying to build my collection back up and looking for some I may have missed or should check out. Personally, I'd say oldboy and seven samurai are amongst my favourites.

Yes, these movies are extremely serious and depressing, but they're gripping, too.

A Better Tomorrow Part II
John Woo is the action master. These are my two favorite movies of his.

Korea
Old Boy
Even though this film is extremely bloody and emotionally disturbing, it is cinematically and narratively well-made. I had to cover my eyes through certain parts, especially toward the end.

Japan (or France, depending on how you look at it)
In the Realm of the Senses
This film is extremely sexually explicit but it's equally about the intensity of the protagonists' emotional relationship and about the physical relationship they have. Of course, some people might just call it glorified porn.

Singapore
That's the Way I Like It
Just some good, old retro fun. Dancing. Music. Fake John Travolta.

I have never had such a hard time watching a movie as that one. It's a really good movie, just almost unbearably sad.

"The Road Home" (Wo de fu qin mu qin), great romance by Zhang Yimou before he went crazy and made silly movies like "Hero" and "House of Flying Daggers" ;)

Infernal Affairs 1-3, awesome thriller/crime series. The first part was remade in Hollywood as "The Departed", but the original is way better (and a lot more complex).

And of course almost all Kurosawa movies are great. I especially like Kagemusha with it's famous "ralley for battle"-scene (That's my personal name for it. It's a scene were the Kagemusha rides 20 times along the same ten riders, but it's cut like he's riding along a very long line of riders - much like Theoden before the Battle in Return of the King. It was sensational at the time). But then not everyone enjoys watching old movies.
