Please join the debate about multitouch technology and linux :)

Multitouch is part of the future. Big names (Microsoft, Apple) have announced that they will be focusing on this and that they expect the technology will become mainstream. Linux should also be ready for the technology of tomorrow. Perhaps there should be created a community for all the multitouch technology for linux?

Below are some links related to multitouch:

I don't like it. It's unhygienic.

You're kidding me right?

The keyboard is the dirtiest thing in your whole house according to studies.

It sounds interesting, but I'm wondering how they'll actually convince the masses that it's the wave of the future. The idea sounds good for simple tasks like moving windows, files, and the like, but otherwise, what use is there for it?

Linux isn't just for home desktops.

Multitouch can/will be used in all kinds of public places.

Yes, but it doesn't look dirty.

I don't like greasy thumb smears on my screen.

Can you imagine eating a kebab while using that thing?

Or someone else using it... ick.

Maybe this will stop people eating at the computer, making it more hygenic? So what if someone else uses it? I can just clean it right?

Yeah, but you're not looking at images on it (unless you got an Optimus Maximus).

I don't see multi touch as a MUST-HAVE technology rather than a gimmicky way to attract customers to the stores, living the fantasy of a super fancy Hollywood-like interface. But it has some uses, for instance, I imagine working on a window, a pidgin message pops-up, and I drag it and throw it to another desktop.

So I guess it would be nice to have it, hopefully as a plugin for X.
