I plan to dual boot windows xp and ubuntu. I have set aside 30GB for ubuntu (is this enough?). How much space for root, home, swap etc. I understand there is a partition I can use to access my windows documents, what is this called and how do I set it up. I searched this site but could not find the info I was looking for.
Thanks in advance.

10 GB for '/'
1 GB for /swap (/swap=RAM in laptops)
The rest for /home
