So this is the first time I actauly got the default network manager to work with ubuntu. Used to use wicd but I had to keep clicking connect almost every two pages I visited.

I put an Icon on the top panel that monitors the connection, just right click -- add to panel. found it there. but when I click on the icon it will bring up connection properties like its supposed to, but when I click the configure button I get a window that pops up and says this:

The interface does not exist

Check that it is correctly typed and that it is correctly supported by your system.

so what do I need to do to get this working properly. I looked up network-manager in synaptic and it wasn't installed so I'm unsure what I'm looking for.
