hey guys, so..I finally did it, I've joined linux.

Ok, so, am loving ubuntu, but I'm totally confused.

I'm a programmer, so i'm pretty much computer literate, but I have no idea what I'm doing in ubuntu.

I'm playing around with aircrack-ng, and I read all the forums and stuff, but they assume too much linux knowledge...so here are my questions:

- is there anywhere I can read up on how to install patches, how do they link back to distros, and what are kernel headers, and do i really need to know about them?

- I'm just trying to patch my wireless driver to work with aircrack-ng.., in particular airmon, any ideas. I've worked out the chipset (centrino a/b/g), but the instructions to download the patch make no sense...?

I don't mind doing the homework, I'm just having trouble understanding the terminologies and context of things...I'm loving the package manager in ubuntu...but what the hell is it?!

cool, any help would be awesome, thanks again!
