is this. After applying for approx 10 jobs, and interviewing for 2, I rejected one and chose my new role, group IT manager for a UK/Dutch company.

Now, during my two interviews, and most of the application processes, the question of Linux came up a surprising number of times.

My commercial experience extends to managing an outsourced project to host a new £10,000,000 ERP system, so that was great knowledge. But they seemed more interested in desktop implementation. About 60% of the companies I spoke to sited Linux as a possible future technology path.

My experience using Linux full time at home and previous role was a key in me getting this new post. The marketplace is definitely changing it's attitude towards Linux. Once the preserve of servers, now I am glad to say, that Linux is on the radar for companies boards.
