hey everyone, i got this problem that the system sounds dont work, like when logging in and out,error messages etc..i checked it from System/preferences/sound but wont play there either...mp3s and movies work though..can anyone help me with this??

Hi, I have the same problem, all my system sounds are set in preferences but the play buttons are greyed out. The sounds used to work fairly recently but since then the kernel version has changed. I think I will try using the previous version and see if that restores the system sound, will let you know how I get on.

I have the same problem on the pc that I just upgraded to Intrepid. If I listen closely I can hear the system sounds coming from the pc speaker as opposed to the system speakers. Yes it is true that firefox media plays ok through system speakers.

hey everyone,
i figured out the problem, i feel so stupid right now lol...what i had to do is go to System/administration/login window then click on accessibility in the tool bar then check the boxes...
