I have tried noacpi nolacpi noapic nolapic in every combination.

Symptoms:
Toss the ubuntu Live CD in and attempt to boot either to install or Live OS and nothing happens the CD is spinning but no matter how long I wait there is no result. I've tried the above options per other threads and seen here that other people with HP 6XXX series laptops say they've had success.

Any one had success with a dv6325 or have any other Ideas? I figure its a kernel/motherboard thing but for the life of me and with no log/crash info or anything printing to the screen, I'm at a loss. I'm considering trying fedora if necessary maybe it comes with the right kernel? I dunno.

Any help is great!

Have you checked the integrity of the Ubuntu CD by running the verification function that is found on the initial Ubuntu boot screen menu ?

Even running the integrity check fails to boot.

How are you burning the CD ? Are you burning at 4x or less ? Are you doing a sumcheck on the downloaded ISO image ?

I hope you have CD-RW media. If you don't you should get some.

I'm a bit embarrassed to report that my problems were entirely related to trying to burn my ISO with a free version of ROXIO on my vista box. I downloaded a copy of ISOBURN and booted up -- working in Ubuntu now. Thanks for the advice, I had all but ruled out the obvious.

Thanks
