Vista & ubuntu Duel Boot

So like, im using vista at the moment, and want to duel boot with my vista that i already have installed..
I know you can install via the live CD with boot parameters; but i keep reading comments about vista been blocked out and corruption of vistas boot partition.
So whats the safest way of gogin about this?
