Hello, I'm completly new to linux( just installed the latest 64-bit version of Ubuntu last week).
I using a Sony Vaio VGN SZ61 MN Notebook, since my headphone jack wasn't working I installed a newer version of of alsa, but after this skype audio wasn't working any more...and gizmo says "No audio input/output devices are currently available" even thus sound works fine. I've downloaded alsa-oss via synaptic paketmanagment but nothing changed. Ekiga works fine but, with ekiga it seems that I can video phone to any windowsuser.I' ve also tried out linphone and wengophone both have trouble with my motion Eye camera.
So can somebody help me, did I install alsa-oss wrong or do I have to do something else or is there a possibility to video phone from ekiga to a widows softphone.
As mentioned I`m really a new to Linux to a very detailed help would be very nice.

Thx
