I know that if you do a minimal Gnome install, you can get a system that uses less memory (runs nicely on 128 megs RAM) then a regular gnome install.

I wonder if anyone has done a minimal KDE base install? Did they realize less use of system resources? Etc.?

when i used kde in ubuntu, i always just installed kde-core and whatever apps i wanted. running kdepersonalizer (which runs the first time you use it) will allow you to reduce the amount of effects that run. now that i use arch, whenever i get in a kde mood, i use kdemod, which comes with a tweaked version of qt3. it runs pretty fast.

Thanks for your responses. I'll give KDE a whirl for a project that I'm working on.
