OK, for reasons I will not go into I managed to wipe my Home directory when upgrading to Hardy.

I've now got a /dev/sda2 root directory and something called "bvfs-fuse-daemon /david/.gfs" which is the same size as the sda2, a small lrm directory and a whole lot of others which have nothing in them.

Before installing Hardy I made a Homebak.tgz. How can I use this to recover data that I need? Pictures, music, a lot of .ODT files etc.

I do NOT want to reinstall Hardy as I'm some way to getting up and running (got streaming radio back and a few other goodies).

Perhaps another question is how do I create an extra partition for HOME?

Got lots of space.
