This is a message I received from a friend:
Hi Phil:
I really appreciate your help! I am experienced using MS XP Home Edition
and have had no problems with the HP Business Inkjet 2200 printer. It is connected to the computer via a parallel port. I followed all your
instructions. The printer blinks as if it is going to print and never stops blinking.
I disconnected the printer, started the setup again and after setting the
printer up and making it the default, I clicked "print a test page" which
resulted in a whole lot of blinking and no printout.
I am completely new with Ubuntu, having just downloading it last week. The program is much more complex than I expected. Perhaps I made a mistake in not partitioning my C drive.
I did successfully make the Ubuntu cd disk. Would you suggest deleting the whole thing and starting over?
I feel guilty in bothering experienced people such as you, however, I do not know where to turn to to get help.
Please advise, and again a thousand thanks for your interest in a UBUNTU
NEOPHYTE, .
We'll skip over the part where my friend thinks I'm an expert and hopefully invite as much input as possible. Whenever he goes through all the steps, setting the printer as default etc., he still gets error message that printer is not connected. The advice of REAL experts would be much appreciated. Thank you
Phil
p.s. I offered the Turboprint alternative already.
