I have recently been in the market to purchase a new laptop and was wondering if System 76 offers a laptop that is made entirely of aluminum. The look I want is basically what the MacBook Pro's have, but because I hate Apple I refuse to buy their hardware and put Ubuntu on it. I'm looking for a high performance laptop so I looked at the Serval, but from the pictures it looks to be made out of plastic. I know this is a real long shot, but are there any plans at all to offer such a laptop, and if not, does anyone know of a company that offers such a product?

We do not have any aluminum laptops at this time. I'm also not aware of any plans to introduce them.
However, I will pass your request on to R&D so that they know there might be customers out there interested in such a feature.

HP is supposed to releasing a tiny notebook with an aluminum exterior and magnesium interior. The specs are pretty modest but its built for portability and longer battery life.
It's supposed to be bundled with SUSE GNU/Linux.

IMHO, You may be better off with a quality plastic on the outside vs aluminum, as the soft metal bends and dents easily (tho it is no too hard to repair). If you want to have something in the rugged category, you would probably find the outside of a notebook made of a more ridged yet light metal like magnesium.
EDIT: I forgot to mention that metal on the palm rest is not all that pleasant when the device becomes warm from use/charging.
