Anyone into Graphics Development or just like those cute pixar movies? Well Big Buck Bunny is out and it is a movie developed with Free and Open source software. It is released under a creative commons license. If you order the DVD they send you the files with the DVD necessary to do total remixes of the movie. They even give you tips (in the form of special features) on how to do this!! WOW very cool. whats more is if you look at the credits for the Software they use right there is good 'ole Ubuntu. so check it out.

I was wondering how long it would be before I saw it on this forum.

BBB is awesome, not only because of how it was made, but because it helped the development of blender a lot.

This looks very nice. I'm not used to watching DVD-quality picture on my computer.

I saw this a while ago. I think it's just beautiful. Although they cheated on the extreme backgrounds, and used matte pictures made in GIMP. C'mon, you're supposed to model the whole thing! Even the mountains!

Says on the Blender site they're going to make an Apricot open game (orange open movie, peach open movie, see a pattern here?)

Yeah one of the great things about this film is that it looks as good if not better then the ones from pixar showing that we are totally up to par with that technology. I also think that it has a really cute story to it as well. those guys put a lot into this little film. It would be cool if one day the they could put out a full length feature and get it in theaters. They are at that point now. Maybe just lacking in the funding department.

Actually project orange was released quite a while ago, as in >2 years ago. Apricot is about 1/2 of the way done. They are also planning on a project Durien (another fruit).
