I updated to KDE 4.1 RC1 (I assume as I was on 4.1 beta 2 and got a whole bunch of kde4 related updates through adept). After a reboot I can no longer use my spacebar in most applications. Some example scenarios where spacebar doesn't work:

Konsole (at all)
Url/Search box in Firefox (if the drop-down suggesting completion of a search term appears, spacebar magically works while its displayed)
Alt+F2 run dialog

It does work in the search box on the KMenu.

I don't understand it, and couldn't find anyone else who'd had the same problem or any info on it on the web. Hope someone can help as I'd really like to go back to KDE4, was enjoying it - kinda lame to be back on 3.5!

Many thanks!
James

Weird... maybe check your keymap and make sure it is sane?

Weird... maybe check your keymap and make sure it is sane?

How do I check that and to what do I reference it against?

Also a further discovery is that shift+space will enter a space character when space doesn't work.

I figured it out! For some reason my space bar had been keybound to mute my sound... Once I unbound it I can use it properly. Thanks for your help anyway :)
