Hi guys.

Basically, this is my problem, and as yet haven't found a clear solution that I dare test on my working XP installation....

I have a HP dv6000 laptop with 100gig HDD.
I have a 4gig USB pendrive.
I have an 80gig USB hard drive.

What I would like to do is to copy all info from the Ubuntu 8 Live CD to a portion of my XP HDD (say a folder in c: called Ubuntu) - not sure if this would have to be the ISO or all of the data as files. Then I would like to install some sort of bootloader to my 4gig USB pendrive so that I can boot Ubuntu whenever the USB drive is plugged in.

Now, is this possible? The reason for this is that I don't particularly wish to partition my 100gig drive to accommodate Ubuntu - this would have to be a last resort (I know that it's possible to do in the installation setup through windows from the Live CD).

Or, am I better to just bite the bullet and install Ubuntu to the 100gig HDD using the partitioner in the install setup on the Live CD?

I would prefer the first option.

Any ideas? Thanks!
