I got framebuffer virtual terminals running using the tutorial found here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=622018 (with the vesafb driver).
I have a Thinkpad T61 with an nVidia card.
Since I've set up the framebuffer vt's sometimes, when I switch from X (virtual terminal 7) to one of the other virtual terminals, about 10-20 seconds later I'll get logged off my gnome session, gdm will restart (I'll see the splash for the nVidia driver again) and the display will switch back to virtual terminal 7, showing the gdm login screen.
Does anybody have any ideas?
