I deleted my Ubuntu partition (to install Gentoo), expecting to pop the CD in and take off. The problem is, when I reboot, I get the GRUB error 22.

How do I fix this, if the only thing I can access is my BIOS menu?

I've tried LiveCDs from four other distros. And my BIOS says my laptop is set to boot from CD first. But the GRUB always loads (partially) and displays the error message.

If someone could tell me how to get to a command-line from BIOS, I'm sure I could get the other info I would need. But how do I fix the problem when BIOS is the only tool available to me?

What else do you have in the drive?
